THE MAKER - Micaela Dietrich

With a creative background in the fashion and art industry, my practice combines strong artistic vision with technical expertise to create enduring pieces of beauty that will last a lifetime .

As a curious child, the art of creating and working with my hands was constant; providing a form of meditation and entering a state of flow. I was inspired to study silver smithing with a great respect for what the craft and materials could become; the ability to create an eternal moment.

As an artist, I take great joy in the idea that an object can evoke emotions within the viewer, allowing them to feel and perhaps even take comfort from the work. The concept of a piece of jewellery holding meaning and emotions surrounding a memory holds true to me.

My organic designs are often evolving from collective inspiration; spanning from nature, travel, art history and the study of human emotion. A key element within my work is the ability to soften hard or unwanted materials, bringing about the qualities of the handmade whilst passing on artistic energy and emotion into the piece.

My work contains elements of warmth and majestic beauty; soft, tactile, earthly pieces, that provide a sense of being grounded, of touching base with what nurtures our soul and allowing us to breathe deeply.
